Stablecoin story: Tekanos

Use Case: Freelancer and Contractor Payouts in Stablecoins

Takenos serves Latin America-based freelancers and contractors who work for international companies. Takenos allows freelancers in Latin America to receive their income in digital dollars quickly, cheaply, and without significant hassle.

Their product is particularly valuable for workers in countries such as Argentina, where the local currency has undergone steep devaluation.

How the App Works

Takenos allows freelancers to receive payouts via their app from employers outside their home country and businesses to employ freelancers in Latin America without adding complexity to their payment process.

Freelancers first create an account in the country where their employer is based on Takenos.

Businesses then send payments to Takenos via wire, ACH, SWIFT, SEPA, or Pix. Takenos converts those payments from fiat into stablecoins and transfers the stablecoins to the individual user accounts.

Freelancers can then withdraw those funds instantly to their local bank account for a small fee, or they can get a virtual debit card and use that to make purchases all over the world.

This ensures freelancers are able to receive payouts quickly and also ultimately cash out those stablecoins into local currency conveniently.

How Takenos is partnering with Portal

Takenos is offering self-custodial wallets, powered by Portal, to their thousands of users so they can send and receive stablecoins. Providing a seamless, secure, and seed-phraseless experience with the ability to issue cards was paramount in Takenos’ decision to partner with Portal.
