Wigwam's pioneering self-custody Web3 wallet makes the complex world of cryptocurrency accessible to everyone. Backed by Cex.io, Wigwam prioritizes the safety of its users' assets and data through rigorous security measures, delivering peace of mind to both new users and seasoned crypto enthusiasts. As part of its mission to simplify crypto management, Wigwam sought an infrastructure solution that could offer high-level security without compromising on usability. By partnering with Portal, Wigwam was able to implement Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology, enhancing both the user experience and security of their wallet.

Challenge

Wigwam’s core philosophy centers on user-centricity and security. However, they recognized that the traditional approach of managing crypto with seed phrases was a significant barrier for many users, especially newcomers. Seed phrases, while secure, are complex to manage, introducing both risk and friction into the user journey. To improve accessibility while upholding robust security standards, Wigwam sought a solution that would simplify wallet management and bring a seamless experience to users without sacrificing safety. Portal’s advanced MPC infrastructure fit the bill.

Solution

With Portal’s MPC wallet infrastructure, Wigwam was able to remove the need for seed phrases altogether. Wigwam integrated MPC to decentralize cryptographic keys across multiple parties, eliminating the need for users to memorize and manage complex seed phrases, making the wallet approachable for beginners and seasoned crypto users alike.

“Our goal is to make crypto simple for everyone. Thanks to Portal, our app is even more beginner-friendly and brings the excitement of decentralized finance. Safely trade, hold, and send tokens with our wallet,” said Oleh Khalin, Chief Product Officer of Wigwam.

Portal Features used by Wigwam

In addition to MPC, Wigwam leveraged several core features offered by Portal, including:

  • SDKs for web and React Native: These SDKs allowed Wigwam to easily integrate Portal’s advanced security and wallet functionalities across both web and mobile applications, enhancing their reach and accessibility.
  • Solana support for React Native: With Portal’s Solana support on React Native, Wigwam was able to provide fast and efficient Solana-based transactions on mobile, catering to users active on the Solana blockchain.
  • Cross-device sync: Portal’s cross-device sync capabilities allowed users to maintain consistent access to their wallet, whether on desktop or mobile, delivering flexibility and convenience for multi-device users.

Additional Features in Wigwam’s Wallet

To further enrich the user experience, Wigwam’s wallet also includes:

  • Cross-chain swaps allow users to exchange assets across different blockchains directly in the wallet
  • Web3 browser helps connect to dApps, join airdrops, play blockchain games, and access DeFi with ease
  • Portfolio tracking for users to monitor their assets and transactions in one place, simplifying crypto asset management

Results

With Portal’s MPC infrastructure and developer-friendly SDKs, Wigwam successfully launched a wallet that combines security, ease of use, and functionality. Users can experience the benefits of DeFi without the hassle and risk of seed phrases, and Wigwam’s cross-chain advanced analytics features further enhance security and user experience. Through its partnership with Portal, Wigwam has been able to fulfill its mission of making crypto management simple and accessible to all, setting a new standard for self-custody wallets in the Web3 space.
